Another 75 through the gun yesterday. Did I say I like this gun and round? I do. Impressed so far with my first BFR. Ammo shot yesterday was mostly working the upper scale of H-110 with 440 CP's and 400 Sierra's but also some more Longshot and HP-38 on the lower side. Did turn out to be the missouri bullets causing the leading as suspected. Same thing with the 480 Ruger stuff (340 powdercoated) I have used. Think the coating is not great and bullets are way hard. I will push them up the scale and see if it stops or at least slows down. Did cut some more brass down. Now have 125 pieces of loadable brass. Only 175 to go. Did I say I like this gun and round? I really do.

I had the exact experience with the 340gr Missouri, hopefully they won’t lead too bad pushed hard but I still had leading with 27gr h110 in the 480.

I AM GETTING LEADING IN A 475L BOWEN RUGER NIMROD WITH THE MISSOURI 340gr LUBED THUMPER AND A LOAD OF 25grs OF VVN-110, MAYBE IT IS JUST THEIR LEAD RECIPE? THE BULLETS SHOOT WELL, AND THE PRICE IS RIGHT, SO "I CAN LIVE WITH IT".

I suspect so, I too purchased a bunch because of the price but Im starting to see the beauty of casting your own
50/50 ww/Pb water quenched with soft lube and I don’t see any leading at all. Or least no work required for clean up. Little clp and a pass or two with the boresnake and she’s mirror clean. No bronze brush needed

Thats a big 10-4 on casting. Soon as it cools down. Looking at molds for the new pop gun now.

Already posted on this once...but I love this sixgun so much I have to get one and want to make it my next priority. (Well...real world priority that is, after tithe, wife, kids, food, bills, etc.) I just keep coming back to it! I even copied your picture to my computer for possible future wallpaper use. (Hope that is ok to covet your possession till I get my very own! ) But I just LOVE the looks and simple clean lines of this BFR! This is exactly what my next purchase needs...er...um...*ahem*...wants to be.

I too went with the 5 and 1/2 in. I have really enjoyed working up loads for this one. I have settled on the 350 xtp with h110, and the 440 flat nose with h110 and 231. That 231 load at 950 FPS is a real fun load to shoot!

I have the Lee expander Die for my 500 JRH, It works fine now but I had to pull the guts out of it and polish the neck just below the flair. Put it in a drill and take some emory cloth to it, I found that it wasn't going to hurt it to take a few thousands off of it so that is what I did. Much smoother now,

I just got my MRI 5.5 500 JRH in. Looks nice. I have been getting components together for the last couple weeks. Need to get the brass cut and start loading. Looking forward to shooting this one. Here is a pic to prove this is based on a true story. A fine looking handgun......

Works on all manners of small vermin. Just got it last winter. Hopefully a mule deer in a month or so!
First group was at 100 yards over my knees with a LEE 440 and WC820

Priceless. Those smiles are great. I bought that same mold. Unfortunately I am sending my gun back to MRI for a canted front sight. Thought I could live with it but after installing a taller fiber optic front sight it is even more pronounced.
