I just got my MRI 5.5 500 JRH in. Looks nice. I have been getting components together for the last couple weeks. Need to get the brass cut and start loading. Looking forward to shooting this one. Here is a pic to prove this is based on a true story.

You even got the Bisley grip frame with it. Nice looking revolver! I bet it will shoot as good as it looks.

Okay...that might have to be my next one! Need to save some $$...but that might be my go to over the.454...but maybe even the .480 I was leaning towards. That BFR Bisley is purdy! I hate this site!

I have a 5 1/2” BFR in 500JRH. It is a favorite of mine. The BFR is a fine made revolver.

Firedude that gun is as clean and simplistic as one could imagine. That's a beautiful revolver.

I find the 500 JRH the most versatile of the big bores. Including the 480 Ruger and 475 Linebaugh.
Especially true in the BFR frame due to the lack of rim restrictions.

Thanks fellas. She seems very well built. I took her apart last night and smoothed the corners and burs. This is my first BFR and so far I am impressed with the quality, fit and finish. I see more of these in my future. Did also get 50 pieces of brass cut, trimmed and loaded yesterday. Only issue I ran into was the RCBS expander die wants to buckle the brass when properly adjusted. I have read where some have this problem and some do not. I bought another set of Lee dies to try the expander. Starting out with CP 440 grain loads with H-110, Longshot, HP-38 and HS-6. Also bought some Missouri 400 grain coated stuff for cheap fun loads. Hope to get out tomorrow for a little breakin.

Great looking gun. Now get in line for one of 2 Dogs front sights for a BFR.

Shot 75 rounds today. 40 of which were upper end stuff. Shoots great. Very comparable to the 480. Bigger hole is always better though. This gun (like most) liked the upper end H-110 with the CP 440 grain stuff. Also as others have posted the light loads with HP-38 are very accurate and fun to shoot. 400 grains at 950 fps should work on anything around here. This gun, like my ruger 480, really likes Longshot and HS-6 as well. Did get some bad leading. I did not clean when changing from one load to another so I do not know who the worst offender is here. Probably the Missouri 400 grainers only doing 950 fps. Same happens with the 480 and the Missouri stuff. Even though they are powder coated they seem to lead. Not sure the coating is very good on them. Also, as the gun started getting dirty the B/C gap closed to the point of getting sticky on a couple cylinders. I do expect this and do not mind. I would much rather have a tight gap. Really liking this gun so far. More shooting tomorrow.

I start with recommended loads for the 475 Linebaugh with any given bullet weight. Also, use a lot of Unique in my guns. A little goes a long way and loads will kill anything walking.
