Had some trials finding a gun without the cursed "R" on the frame but finally got one. Wonderful looking gun, beautifully executed. Thanks for showing it. But please explain this cursed R thing ?

Factory mark to show the revolver has been return to the factory for the transfer bar conversion. Hamilton, being trained as a lawyer, declines to unconvert a factory converted revolver. It’s about assumption of liability. That’s my paraphrased understanding. Tim

I'd give up a Smith and Wesson or two for that!

WHAT WORRIES ME ABOUT UNCONVERTED OM's IS THAT WE MAY KNOW TO ONLY LOAD 5 BUT YOU NEVER KNOW WHERE THESE GUNS MAY WIND UP, MAYBE A GRANDKID WHO DOESN'T KNOW BETTER? SORT OF A MORAL DILEMMA. I HAVE AN UNCONVERTED OM 45 COLT THAT I AM CONFLICTED ABOUT, NOT TO MENTION SEVERAL COLT SINGLE ACTIONS. WITH THE COLTS THERE IS NO "FIX" BUT WITH THE RUGERS THERE IS.

If I felt like you do I’d send it in to get converted and sleep better at night. For me I switch any converted OM I get back to its original configuration. I also don’t lose much sleep about driving my 1956 Chevrolet without seat belts either. All personal opinion.

kings6: I BOUGHT THE OM 45 COLT IN 1972 OR 1973, SHOT MY FIRST 2 HANDGUN WHITETAILS WITH IT. I LIKE IT THE WAY IT IS BUT ...... I DO NOT WANT TO RUSH INTO ANY DECISION ON CONVERTING IT, BUT AT 74 YOU START THINKING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE GONE. RE THE SEAT BELTS, ILLEGAL IN TEXAS NOT TO BUCKLE UP. YEARS AGO I CAUGHT A RIDE BACK TO THE HOUSTON AREA, FROM THE INDIANHEAD RANCH NEAR DEL RIO, WITH 2 OF THE YOUNG GUIDES. THEY HAD A REGULAR PICKUP (1 BENCH SEAT) SO I GOT TO SIT IN THE MIDDLE, FIRST THING I DID WAS LOOK FOR THE SEAT BELT, THEY ANSWERED THAT WHEN YOU R DOING 100mph THEY DON'T DO ANY GOOD, I SAID F... YOU, I'M USING ONE. WE GOT WHERE WE WERE GOING SAFELY. OLDER GUYS TEND TO BE MORE CAUTIOUS.

Nobody who hasn't learned MUZZLE CONTROL has any business handling a firearm.
Nobody who hasn’t learned the OPERATION of a FIREARM has any business loading it.
