Just a couple things I can mention. First, I’d suggest wearing a ball cap until you figure out its ejection pattern. I’ve seen several different units chuck brass straight into your forehead and with enough oompf to make a small bleeder. Second is springs. I have personally seen 3 DE handguns restored from jam-o-matic to reliable with a complete spring replacement. MRI recommends every 1000 cycles. Or they did. Not sure if that’s changed. Have fun! They sure are fun +1 here. Mine 6" .50 ejected straight back into my face and chipped my prescription lens. Reading up on it, the problem seemed to be specific to the caliber and it's tremendous torque. I experimented with different grips and stances but that didn't help. I sent it off for quad magna-porting and that helped a bit. It's a fun gun to shoot, but I suspect mine will be sold eventually.

The way I hear it, Israeli Military Industries tried to buy Jon Power’s gun, without Powers’ involvement. Powers didn’t sell. An ergonomic challenge, of course, is how to scale a grip for the hand that comfortably wraps a magazine stuffed with magnum revolver cartridges. Ejection of spent cases from the Desert Eagle is fierce, especially considering it has a spring-loaded button ejector in the bolt head. Ejection from from an ejector fastened to the receiver generally depends on bolt velocity for imparting speed to the fired case. The Desert Eagle ejects brass with the force of a high speed bolt overriding a fixed ejector. Violent ejection similar to the Heckler & Koch 91 (fixed ejector), albeit the Desert Eagle broadcasts brass in a random fashion. Including toward the shooter’s face. My first experience involved an early Desert Eagle in .357 Magnum, brass flung hither & yon. The first, just-over-my-head, zinger caused my already downward impression of the pistol to plunge. Strong shooting glasses conned me to continue, although a face shield makes more sense. The .357 Mag Desert Eagle didn’t do anything a good sixgun does better. An auto pistol may be more compact for compact cartridges. The .50 AE may be the most “practical” chambering, as it compliments the pistol's outlandish bulk. And it may be that for some shooters recoil in the Desert Eagle is more manageable. Against that, I find the .50 AE a most uninspiring cartridge. The large gas port at the front of the chamber may well limit velocity; certainly doesn’t add to it. You just about need a featureless, grass-free deck to shoot from, unless you are willing to to forego “reloading,” and throw away brass at every shot. To each his own, I reckon. Yet, practicality brings its own reckoning: once we enter the domain of magnum, the revolver takes over, without looking back, from holstering to reliability to accuracy. David Bradshaw

I found the Automag a more efficient platform AUTOMAG 2 in 22 magnum, 3 in 30 Carbine, 4 in 10mm Magnum, & 5 in 50 A.E.

that one was tough... trying to decide between the 45 Win Mag, & the 10mm Mag... the 3 also came in 9mm magnum, but the 30 carbine seemed so much more practical... I actually saw the add I posted, & bought the 5 1st, then the 3, then the 4, & then the 2
