That would be sort off hard to determine. It would differ with the different types of hide you were trying to punch threw. It would take a whole lot more energy and momentum to punch threw elephant hide than it would a whitetail deer.
I would think you would have to get untanned hide(sense tanning toughens the hide). Put a bullet on the end of a rod with a strain or some sort of pressure gage and supply enough force to punch threw the hide. I know, my solution is not very practical. Bill
