The kimber Jagare looks good. Spendy but comes with optic. I think I have all my single action revolvers in the calibers I want or need for hunting. Turns me to look at the 1911 base !

Kimber is making a plain 6 inch long slide in 45ACP and 10mm. We have a 45 in the shop. Nice adjustable rear sight, fiber optic front. No front strap checkering or front slide cuts. No firing pin block... MSRP is about $1100.. Street price less than $900.

If it just wasn’t a Kimber To each his own but I’ll never own one after dealing with the company years ago when we sold them. When it was over, we never sold another one. Just too many other options out there at the same price point in my opinion. I have expensive 1911s for me and then others that are in the middle then some that are lower in the $1000-1200 range. I’ll have to be honest and say I shoot the 1200 DWs better and they are extremely well built. I will eventually order a Bruin. Love that gun. They were out when I tried to order one. I have a 6” SF in 10mm and now I think they offer it in an optics ready platform as well. Do some reading before you settle.....

I've departed from the "II" Kimber 1911. Thinking I have one Clackamas 1911, two Super Match 1911s, and one more full size Kimber 1911. IMHO the firing pin block has no place in a game gun. Asking for trouble. Never had one fail but know very experienced 1911 guys that have. Hate the MIM trigger part but a nice set of tool steel parts from KC Crawford fixes that. If the Jagare did not have the round butt I might have had one long ago when I first saw them. Round butt is a carry gun thing. My 1911s made for shooting need and wear at least an arched housing if not a Vee or Wedge.

I think AxeHandle was reading my mind when he wrote that post. I despise Kimber's MIM parts and I'm not much for round butting the 1911 even if carried. I for one would like to see one of DW's 50th Anniversary 1911s.

I’d suggest looking at the series 70 Rock Islands (Dan Wesson also). Here is one of the Rocks, they make they make other 10mm’s. armscor.com/firearms/ria/pro-series/pro-match-ultra-6-10mm/I remember when Kimber made great rifles in Oregon, bought the plant in Yonkers, moved there to begin 1911’s, and had an active presence in an online forum. In that forum, the customer service and production folks responded to questions, recognized the difference in cultures between the two places, and they were working to raise Yonkers’ QC standards to Clackamas. I still give Kimber kudos for being active in that forum. Hasn’t Kimber built a new manufacturing plant in a different, gun friendly, state? I expect the Yonkers plant was important in the growth of the company, but they can finally move someplace that isn’t anti gun. FWIW

That thing gets me weak in the knees... www.sigsauer.com/store/p220-hunter-full-size.html

Until Kimber drove all the 1911 makers to step up and provide a properly set up gun the SIG P220 was the gleaming star of all 45 ACP semi autos. Now days they are still a good gun but I never became one with any DA/SA SIG trigger. The first SIG 1911 I held was a poorly built disappointment. Subsequent SIG 1911s I've handled have been the gun that first one should have been but too late for me and SIG..

+1 (or -1) on Kimber CS. Sent a Gold blah blah back because the trigger dragged/drug like a lead shoe to which they replied "It's the way it's supposed to be" Had Lou replace the guts

I shot Jasons test gun and they are extremely accurate. I need to take mine out soon

Don’t discount the Dan Wesson’s. Not all of them are crazy money. 48 yo and I’ve never shot a 45cal 1911. People who know me and my gun fetish don’t believe me when I tell them that. At one time almost 10 years ago,, I had a DW Razorback and a pointman 7 both in 10mm. Made an even trade on the Razorback for a marlin 41 mag levergun. The pointman was sent to Novak for front strap work. I added a set of Buffalo bone grips and a super nice barranti holster. This would be tha last semiautompistol I would part with. Never had a hiccup with this gun.
