Without actually planning on it, my experiment has grown. I have been shooting the 300 whisper and 300 blackout for years in AR platforms and single shots. I enjoy the low noise and report from subsonic rounds. Well this past weekend I picked up an Encore barrel that is a 16 1/4” 338 Whisper #2 (338-221FB). I’m gonna drop a Nikon 3-9x blackout scope on it. I’ll be able to use that scope with a rifle stock or pistol grip. I’ll get some pics up later. These are fun guns.

Might be a couple of days on pics. I’m traveling to South Carolina for my next construction project.

Not that kind of project. Not a trip. I’ll be there 16-18 months in the Myrtle Beach area. I’ll share pictures as I can to help equal out my desire to be in the west or in the Great Plains. Some guns travel with me.

I’m pretty intrigued by it. A big heavy bullet that launches at below the speed of sound and maintains a high percentage of its initial velocity all the way to the target. Like throwing big quiet bricks.

I have done some subsonic AR loads over the years with 6x45. Great combo and accurate. I also used to discuss and help guys and my old gun club in N.Y. developing JDJ loads for some of the big whispers aka 375 cal etc. I too love the concept. I actually happened across a loaf using trail boss in 233/5.56 that is like using a suppressor when not but is better in a bolt rifle than AR even run wet the extraction is iffy. Good luck with it.

The transition to the new project slowed me down but here are the pictures of these two guns in rifle form. Handgun grips are inbound.
