While there is a strong chance that Colt will build no more SAA sixguns, I do not see the demand for a high price US made copy. I have 2 USFA SAs and they are great guns but still a great copy. If you want a Colt, nothing else will scratch the itch. If just want a copy, the Italian guns at one third the cost are the way to go. JMHO. I don't agree with this at all and all the "just a copy" rhetoric baffles me. The high end SAA market is as strong as ever. People are paying way over MSRP for Colt's and outrageous prices for USFA's. IMHO, Colt is a second rate copy with the rights to the famous name. The USFA's are closer to the original than Colt has been since WWII.

Did anyone here get 1911 SN#1? When they get to 10,000 I bet someone wished they had.

If they ever offer a black powder frame version, and they're as good as USFA, I will buy one and most definitely shoot it.

Has anyone that paid to reserve one of these received their gun yet? Any news on them?

A couple of guys have gotten their first guns. Kooz on the RF got #5 and he said it is very well made. Supposedly they have enough initial orders that they shut off the order taking for now until they can get caught up. Some Colt purists nitpic how this isn’t just like Colt or that is slightly different but SM didn’t set out to make an exact copy of a Colt, they set out to build the nicest single action they could and so far they seem to be doing a good job. One of the guys stopped by their plant and was told they did NOT buy usfa tooling but they go have a number if former usfa and Colt employees working for them building these guns. If they go cone out with a bisley spurred hammer, I will order one.
