Well things are looking up. Don't suppose they posted a tentative release date?

If they ever offer a black powder frame version I will buy one in 4-3/4" trim and 45 Colt chambering. And it will be shot! (smile)

Did they give you a firm price kooz? A few days ago their website showed a price of $1595. I checked this afternoon after your post and now I see a price of $1895. Just curious what actual street price will be or did they give you a pre production price?

You are right about the price increase. We would be naive to think this is the only one before the gun is produced. They are starting to get away from a lot of gun buyers at $1895 for the base model.

He said 1595 for the base model when I spoke to him . Base model being no engraving according to him . We will see what happens , at that price it is not like I am going to go on a buying spree for sure , but would like to get one . Not to horrible of a price if the quality is top notch in my opinion . From the little bit I have been able to find on these guns and after talking to the guy at Standard they are striving to build the best revolver out there , so I am going to give it a shot .

I set up as a dealer with them last year specifically to get at least one of these in my hands. They won't commit to a release date, but I'll buy at least one if they do produce them.

I will be curious to see a side by side with a usfa gun. Buying the tooling is one thing, building something off it may be another.

I’ve read a few times that Standard bought the USFA tooling but when I called and talked to them last year I asked about this and the guy told me they did NOT buy the tooling from USFA. Does anyone else have any info regarding this?

While there is a strong chance that Colt will build no more SAA sixguns, I do not see the demand for a high price US made copy. I have 2 USFA SAs and they are great guns but still a great copy. If you want a Colt, nothing else will scratch the itch. If just want a copy, the Italian guns at one third the cost are the way to go. JMHO.

If you want a Colt, nothing else will scratch the itch. If just want a copy, the Italian guns at one third the cost are the way to go. JMHO. This has been my personal experience. For a long while I was hooked on 1911's and originally I owned Colts, Govt Models, Gold Cups, Combat Commanders etc. Then I moved on to Kimbers for a while and finally owned shot and carried 4 or five Wilson Combat 1911's including a couple of Super Grades. All the while I was buying Kimbers and even Wilsons I had a nagging itch to buy a Colt, any Colt 1911. Even though every time I handled one it came no where near any of my Wilson's. Even to this day when all the 1911's have gone away I still get an itch to buy a Colt 1911. I had a similar experience with BFR's and Freedom Arms single actions. Every so often it would pop into my head that they were not Colts. It is funny how your mind can ignore logic and mess with your heart to mess with your head. On the other hand, it is also rewarding to handle, carry and shoot finely crafted handguns no matter what the markings are on the side of the barrel or slide.

I hope the guns match their reputation for quality regardless of if they bought new tooling or built their own. I don’t see another top end Colt style SA coming here but you never know.
