Bought one of these fine rifles back in 2004. Back when a Remington was a Remington.
Just now got around to scoping it with a Vortex BDC 3-9x50mm scope. Really made a fine hunting rig.
My interest in the metrics really have me moving to get some guns going.
Any interest in this fine old cartridge besides me?

A great round as you say. Only rifle I have is an old Yugo 98K (German made) with a scout scope setup. It shoots very well. Favorite load is the 175 Sierra FB Pro Hunter with 50 grs of IMR 4064. Shoots into an inch most days.

I have 2 VZ-24's both in 8 X 57... both are sporterized milsurp rifles, but one has a burled wood aftermarket stock, & the other a sporterized military stock with medallion... the medallion rifle wears a peep rear sight, the Burl stocked rifle a Burris scope... I've been buying PRVI factory ammo in both FMJ, & in soft point, as back up, & to use as re-loadable brass... I personally like the cartridge, & these rifles...a good vintage Remington 700 in 8 mm Mauser would be a prize... BTW... I put an 8mm match barrel on a Remington #1 Rolling Block, as a fast twist barrel for a 32-40 long range single shot Rifle... so I do like the caliber

I missed one a while back. It would have made a nice companion to my Rem. Mountain rifle in 7x57 (7mm mauser).

I remember back when distributors were practically giving these guns away, because of the low demand. I'm sure that a bunch of them were parted out for the actions. I have a mechanically pristine M1908/29 Persian Mauser, made by BRNO. The stock needs to be refinished, because it has a multitude of fine scratches in a couple of areas that really look terrible. Once I return to the States I'll refinish the stock, and then actually go shoot it! The bore is pristine.

I think I'm going to build a 700 with a .323" Lilja #3 barrel I have sitting around as an 8X57mm and see if it interests a buddy enough to take it home.
