So I'm thinking I want to cut my Stainless 6+ inch barrel 480 Super Blackhawk, to something shorter... are there any replacement sight bases that are drill & tap style, rather silver solder on??? a quick search turns up Single Six style, & the Super Redhawk style, which I may be able to buy the tallest, & radius the bottom of the base... but curious what is out there, if I wanted to cut the barrel length to 5.5"

DX front sight from Bowen arms.Replaceable blades for height.
I purchased one to go on gun being built by Andy Horvath.

Fermin is making front sights for the BFR. It should be close.

I have a Weigand DX and a Stroh SW base that might be able to be modded to work. Both were purchased for a project that took a turn in another direction, if you’re interested.

You could drill and tap the dx base.

Looks like they have discontinued all the sight blades & bases in this style... so changing blades would likely require a custom blade... www.jackweigand.com/interfs.html |

Others make DX blades, from what I’ve seen. So Weigand May have but they are still available.

Your Smith will need to recut the bottom radius to match your barrel diameter and drill and tap the barrel for a 6x40 screw. |

well... I appreciate everyone who has posted... but as a guy that thinks outside the box, I had a couple things I wanted to try 1st... 1st one showed up yesterday... this one... Marlin Model 70PSS STAINLESS STEEL Front Sight Base 22 LONG RIFLE has 2 screws which is what attracted it to me... a standard 3/8" dovetail, & the base is stainless... I think it looks pretty good... opinions???   |

I've decided to do a 5" barrel ( if it happens to end up .480" oh well  ) but had to order a new standard length ejector housing, which should be here this week... will be excited to see the grips that Zane is doing, & my new shorter barrel  |
