I had my love affair with the Linebaugh cartridges and finally got rid of all of them (standard and long). Figured if a heavy .45 Colt or .44 Mag wouldn't do it for me, it didn't need doing.
This gun is making me rethink that. Wow. Just wow. Considering the ivories, that is a bargain price.

When you look at all the factors from the builders experience, work load, non availability of ivory etc. it makes it look pretty good if a guy was an extra $4k to play with!

Indeed. Even comes with what you need to get started reloading for .475 Linebaugh. Very tempting package.
I bet if you called them, you could just buy it outright without having to wait for the auction to end. They have a retail store and a disclaimer that everything is subject to sale there if it has no bids.

The invoice from Bowen talks about cut down 45-70 brass. Has the brass for the 475 LB changed since the early days? Meaning, will this one take the Starline 475 brass or do you still need to cut down 45-70 brass for this one?

It was most likely built before 475 brass was available. When I bought my 475 built by John several years ago it came with both cut down 45-70 and 475 brass.

Yep. A gun that early would be before .475 Linebaugh marked brass. Should work with both.

If that was a 45 Colt I would have been moving something to buy it. AS it is I really don't need a pair or 475's in the safe.

Rob,
Can't have just one. Need a pair and a spare. Just to be on the safe side.

I just don't have time to cut loose from a different Bowen gun before this one ends.

It looks to me they have every item of theirs on GB at the same retail price it is in their store. They aren’t interested in an auction. Interested in top dollar.

Jackson Armory is a fantastic store in Dallas right down the street From SMU. Great inventory and better people.
