InAfrica Hunting with Gary Reeder and other friends.
On the third day and the first two went great. Day 1 ended with a great Blue Wildebeest kill. Decided to go with traditional African calibers. This one was taken with a Ruger #1 in 303 British. One bullet thru the heart at 200 yards was an instant kill.
Day 2 was Impala day. A very mature buck was taken with my Ruger #1 in 9.3x74R.
Calibers seem kinda reversed, but harsh condition mean you use what you happen to have in hand.

Sounds great! Love both of those rifles, still have the 9.3 but sold the .303 some time back, both good shooters. Shoot straight and have a good time, nothing compares to it.

What bullet weight did you use in the 303. It doesn't get the write up . But it and the 8mm Mauser with heavy bullets has worked great on all game in Africa. Congrats !

Your Wildebeest looks big, and it is a beautiful one. Congratulations to you and all the guys. Look forward to more photos when you can.

Yesterday, life long friend killed a record book Gemsbok.
Gun used was a Ruger #1 405 WCF. I loaded all ammo used on the trip and this one was unique.
300 grn Barnes X-Bullet over a healthy charge of IMR4895. Accuracy was superb with groups under 2" at 200 yards.
This was a life long dream of his, so I'm glad to see it happen.

Excellent. Sounds like all the missfits are doing a great job. There should be no more perturbation with you and the ammo.

Today I made a clean, one shot kill on a nice trophy Springbok. The bullet passed thru doing massive internal damage and left a 1-3/4" exit hole.

I did know you would be taking the 25-20 with you, and was hoping you would get a chance to shoot something. I saw the pics yesterday, and have followed closely as I could on the whole trip. I just wasn't sure which gun in 25-20 you where going to take. What do ya'll have one or two more days and then head home?

Only three of eleven are interested. That, of course, will be with the 9.3x74R Ruger #1.
