This is a 500L built by John being sold by a fellow Okie but the catch is, it’s not finished yet. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that kind of deal on gunbroker. What I have seen on GB that applies to this auction is that he wants all his money back that he spent on it. And of course no pictures. I’m starting to think the pair of 475 maximums are a bargain... www.gunbroker.com/item/757046936

If I'm not mistaken this guy has done this or listed this type of deal at least once before.
I'm not sure what's up with it.....
I can see getting in over your head on a project and not wanting to set the smith back and wanting to get the gun sold as to not tie up your $$.
BUT doing it over and over again...?
And..isn't that price high for a build? if not it's definitely too much for that revolver.
Those Max guns for $4K were never a bad deal......if that's what you want.
Not for me...

This latest round of Linebaugh built guns for sale is interesting. Most mention they have talked to John. Most are priced high enough to not consider them seriously. The advantage to a three year wait is pay as you go. Full retail price all at once is a big hit on anyone’s gun fund.

I bought my JRH 500 Linebaugh Maximum from a fellow Okie, unfinished. I can't recall his name right now though. It is a twin to Max P's book cover gun. It turned out fine and I had Jack on the phone while I sat in my truck with the seller. It was a substantial savings over having one built. I then sold a couple of 357 Max base guns I had around to a couple of you guys. Everyone ended up happy I think.

And the auction was ended early. No bids. GB might have told him he couldn’t sell what he didn’t have.

I know and have bought one of his guns. Specifically a FA 83 475 Linebaugh w/all options in 2008. Neil is a prolific gun trader/seller. I don't think a potential buyer would have any problems in buying one of his guns or builds. If I was interested in the Linebaugh build. I would verify with John Linebaugh. And yes, I know his last name.

Interesting comments. Correct, this isn’t the first time I have commissioned a build with John and decided not to keep it. Priorities and interests change. Live and learn. Pretty simple. Yes, his prices have gone up. I felt that sting too. Thanks for the vouch jdoc.

And it allows someone to make some changes to their liking since it is still in line. I am passing along an opportunity, not just a gun.
