Well, I got into the woods with my Contender yesterday and what a time I had. Last night about 5:30, I hit a 130 lb doe at 120 yards in a food plot. Bang...flop. The 120 grain Balistic Tip penetrated and she dropped instantly. This morning, I was in the same stand when 2 big 8-pointers came out. They were trailing 3 does and looked like they wanted to fight. The bigger of the two walked out into the same food plot from last night. Bang...flop. 125 yards away. About 15 minutes later, the other 8-pointer and a forkhorn walked out. I was going to take that 8-pointer too, but he wouldn't stand broadside enough. Lucky him. The one I did shoot was 210 pounds live weight, 174 field dressed. I am seriously liking this cartridge. I will get my son to show me how to post a picture in a little while.

Here's 3: 8 points, 210 lbs live weight, 125 yards away. One shot...flop. Here's me again with my deer and an Alpha Precision/ Fishpaw Dall Sheep Bisley. I am the one in the hat. A buddy said that he didn't know that there were jackasses as well as deer at my club. What a pal, huh?

Sweet! Always nice when you get a bang/flop with a new gun... sort of gets rid of the heebie jeebies, don't it? ;D
Those are big deer to us... what part of the country are you in?

I was so jacked up on the heebie jeebies that when the 2nd buck came back out, I was giggling so bad that I couldn't hold the gun still!! I got settled down enough to start a trigger press, but then started snickering again. After 2 or 3 more attempts, I let him walk for another year. Having said that, I count that hunt as wildly successful: I got 2 deer with a cartridge that I did myself, out of a handgun and got to see whitetails argue and fight during the rut. The only thing I missed was my son being there...he had tests at school. I live and hunt in Georgia. The buck shown was taken at my club in Central Georgia, about 30 minutes north of Macon. We have 2800 acres that we lease from the power company. It's a nice place to go.
