I just discovered I have a Contender AA frame I thought was stainless. I've mounted and fired {without any issue} a .22LR blue barrel. Anyone remember the gospel on AA vs. Blue vs. Stainless interchanges?
Did T/C offer a modification at some point to allow AA frames to accept blue barrels?
Any light on this is appreciated. Scott

While I have a bunch of TCs my interaction with them has been sporatic at best through the years... All I remember is that the AA stuff was mutually exclusive... Kind of killed the big TC interchangeability advantage didn't it?... Before TC was absorbed by S&W they had a very informative web site.. www.tcarms.com/Looks like it is still up. I'd go there and ask....

T/C does offer a modification to barrels and/or frames. I don't remember the cost. A stainless hinge pin can also be used.

If I have a question about a TC break in the middle product, I send Mike Bellm an email.

The ArmorAlloy system decreased dimensions on the holes. Thus the pivot pin hole on the barrel lug needs to be opened up to permit use with the blued or stainless pins on blued or stainless frames. A pencil, crocus cloth and a bit of trial and error suffices. Use the blue pin as a "gauge". Once altered the AA pin is unusable with that barrel. CHECK new-to-you barrels as many have been altered.
To allow the AA frame to accept barrels the frame holes might need to be opened. I take it you used the AA pin?

I'm not certain as to the actual "build up" but it is enough to interfere with having a correctly sized hinge pin to hold the thing together. As most people do, I avoided it by not having any AA barrels or frames. Most seem to avoid the frames and get the barrels for cheap(er) because of the perceived problems and polishing out the hole in the lug so they can use the blue hinge pin. I imagine that one could reason one's way through mixing and matching the parts.
