This mount was originally called a "Red Buff" mount. I think the company has gone away and my gunsmith may be having them made. This mount has integral 30mm rings. When I run the one inch tube Burris I use shims from EGW. My 30mm Aimpoint 9000SC red dots don't need shims. I need to take a few pictures of that don't I... And yes... This is a 38 Super

I work with a guy who has a small company making optic mounts for semi-autos that look pretty good. I'll try and get info...

While pretty is kewl.. It is not part of the equation for paper punchers. This is my personal current choice for 1911 optic mounting.

Jim Clark made a mount for 1911 in the late 70's early 80's. It replaced the left grip and you drilled two more screw holes it cantilevered over the slide. I had that on a AMT hard baller in stainless. This gun had a Oxford on it and to change colors you had different lens covers if I remember right it used triple A batteries. There's just something about letting a classic go.

How does one rack the slide? That very question is the origin of the machined serrations on the front of the slide.

3 grains of WST under a 147 grain cast bullet racks the slide pretty well until the gun is empty. At this point it is locked to the rear and easy to grab. If a man was really wanting to seriously rack the slide when forward they make apendages that you'd slide into the rear sight dovetail. This gun was built to be a dedicated paper puncher and has no rear sight dovetail. We shoot 10s and Xs and don't get in a rush doing it.

I ran across this looking for something else. I must be one sick puppy because I still like it!
