Gents: There is a firm, amongst others I am sure, in the Twin Cities here, whom I have had contact with about putting a black finish on stainless firearms. As the finish is charged by the batch, this is one, again among others, reason I have waited. I intend to at this point do it to a Smith&Wesson 945 and a NAA .450. I have a Seville .375 I was going to do but I intend to sell that in a comparatively near future.
I am asking you because I do believe I saw on this site somewhere, a stainless gun that has been so treated. Will the refinished gun be as shiny as the pre-work finish or is it not possible to get a shiny finish with these processes?
I have zero love for silver guns, and yes it is obvious I have a few. I buy silver guns with the full intent to do this as money would allow. (I spoke with Bob Baker and Gary Reeder about doing a run of carbon steel guns and they both pretty much said; if I could guarantee all non-stainless gun would be sold with no headaches, they would do it. Obiously I cannot make that assurance.)
Thank you for any and all responses. Bob
