I asked a friend of mine if I could shoot his 125th Anniversary Colt and he said it probably needed cleaning. As I have never fired a real Colt I stated "It's OK, I like to clean guns". Ten minutes later he comes back with four guns, this one is the most "involved". Gonna take a LOT of Q-tips. This gun has killed enough deer to (insert analogy). I actually do like cleaning filthy guns, this will be good for our relationship. One of the guns is a S&W semi 22 with the bore beneath the lug, AKA Rhino. I forgot the model number (2206), I'll post pics.

An unconverted old model Super with stag grips, nice.
The 22 could be a 422 blue or 622 stainless, if it has an aluminum frame. If it’s all steel it would be a 2206. There were also pocket sized versions of the first two, the 2213 and 2214.

I really like those polychoke vent ribs, when they are executed correctly. That one is.

I never knew they made a vent rib for those! I kinda want to track one down now...
That's a great old school rig. Is the hammer extension for the SBH or something else?

Those old polychoke ribs were a "stick on" affair,, easily added to a Ruger. Those grips look like faux stag on wood. Are they? I'd say that hammer extension is too small for the SBH. Have fun cleaning the guns!

The grips look like Jay Scott fake stag. I remember every gun magazine having an add for those vent ribs. You could get one for a Security Six too. The fact that it has been used to take a bunch of deer and it shows "use but not abuse" does make it attractive to me.

I've bought a couple SBH with the Polychoke rib and a few seconds with the heat gun and POOF! they were gone!

The 22 is a 2206 Warhawk, +1. The grips are fake stag on wood. The rib is I believe held on with silicone of all things. It's gooey and pick resistant. Hammer extender is stripped and for a Marlin. Anyone know the thread size on the hammer extension set screw? How would a Blackhawk hammer look on a Marlin? I think I like the idea.

After complete takedown and cleaning, this one had a substantial amount of flame cutting on the top strap. Back it goes to the owner today. There's a free wheeling Bearcat up next.

Greg.... how can a Super Blackhawk exhibit top strap erosion without severe barrel face erosion? David Bradshaw

Unsure sir, not something I've been "taught" to look for until now, thank you sir. I will take a look and try and get pics. Now that I think about it, if the top strap is affected, wouldn't the cylinder bushing be affected also? What goes up goes down in that situation I'm guessing.

It would take a lot of hot burning powder to act like a cutting torch on a Ruger topstrap, let alone a Ruger .44 Magnum topstrap. David Bradshaw

Apparently the cleaning eliminated what I thought was flame cutting. The barrel face cannot say the same.
