My BFR's came home from Alan Harton today. I snapped a quick pic, I'll try to get some glamor shots tomorrow. They wear KRW Bocote Grips, Alan trimmed both barrels to 5.5" and set Weigand bases out on the ends of em. (.475 JT on the left, and a .454 DM on the right)

Very nice pair, I love those weigand sights. Let us know how they shoot. Alan always does perfect work and these are no exception.

Look good. I will likely do the same with my 475.

Well done! I like that sight base too. There will be more BFRs in my future...

I like 'em! Love the front sights. Anybody seen a BFR custom shop cylinder thats been fluted? I know a while back they offered the option, but now I can't find any reference to it on their sight.

most good smiths can flute a cylinder for you pretty reasonable. I'm personally not a big fan of fluted 5 shot cylinders 'cause the way the flutes run up to the bolt notches looks wrong to me.

I've thought that myself, but on the long cylinder guns it might look cool... and a little reprofiling and dehorning might help to personalize the beastie a bit as well. I think I will want to see one first, then maybe even have it BP chamfered... fit some custom grips (the rubber factory are ok, but maybe a porting job and a more traditional grip...)

The local shop I haunt has a BFR 500 S&W (10 1/2" barrel). I have no practical use for such a beast but the enabler there has put it to me with $ 650.00 and just pay onit as long as you like. He knows I'm a sucker for a deal and I know he's working me. How much do these run on the average and what do you think of the cartridge, any thoughts will be appreciated.

I like the 500. I load 'em lighter than the factory: 400 grainers at 1200 feet per. Comfortable out of the BFR. List on 'em is around $900.

I haven't seen a fluted BFR yet, but it sounds slick. If anyone finds a picture of one, please post it. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I like that. A lot. was that done by Magnum research, or a local 'smith?

I like that. A lot. was that done by Magnum research, or a local 'smith? BFR's custom shop did it,there really nice guys there and willing to do almost anything you want (as long as its safe). cost me 100 dollars and there turnaround was 1 week! also talked about having some other work done and ended up getting a lot of wildcat hand-load data sent to me when they send my cylinder back, great guys that like to shoot!
