There is no guarantee they will produce cases for us at any quantity... but it might be interesting to see if we could put together enough of a group buy, to sway them to produce... I'm in for 1000... and would take 2000 if that was needed to get them to produce... anyone else interested???

I'd spring for 1000 for sure. I can see it now. A couple years down the road and Starline is producing their new biggest seller, the 401 Powermag. All the revolver makers are scrambling to bring out new revolvers chambered for it and sales of everything from 357 to 44 Magnum are falling dramatically with the reintroduction of this classic. Or I could just be overly optimistic.

50,000 pcs is what it took to get the .41spl off the ground. You have to pay for the headstamp, too.

I will if I ever hear back from Starline on the matter. If they will give me a solid number I will post it on a bunch of forums.

Call them during regular work hours, ask to speak to Hunter. They are in Mo, so central time. I believe they have no back orders on their site so it would be a good time.

Nope. I haven't heard back from them. I've been recently preoccupied with my wife's health. She had 12 hours of back surgery in August and while she is doing well, the recovery is slow and I have been focused more on her than on getting with Starline. I need to stop making excuses and contact them again.

You may want to contact Reed's ammo as they make .401 ammo... I am not sure how they are currently getting their cases but they may be interested in a few thousand rounds...
Now that Ruger has a 10mm Blackhawk, it would be a natural to get a .401 cylinder made...

Bob, you did more to ease my glut of .41spl brass than Reed did............

50000 is half of what they wanted years ago when a bunch of us tried to get them to make 222 mag basic. Straight walled no neck 222 mag. Then on top of that was we put money up front for the dies. We ended up with enough takers on brass, or so they said. Coming up with money for dies was the biggy. I believe they also wanted a large percentage up from for the brass.
I recall years back a deal with a Remington rifle bullet that the 357 max TC shooters wanted. Remington had discontinued it. The gent put out some feelers and a bunch of folks jumped on it, wanting them. He had takers for over what a minimum order was. He fronted the whole thing out of his pocket. Bullets arrived and he started emailing people. Long story shorter. People that said they would take 1k decided 500 were plenty, those that wanted 500 decided 1-200 was plenty. Poor guy sat on the left overs for a long time. He did this out of generosity and only wanted to break even. Yet got left holding the bag so to speak.
Saw similar thing with gas checks years back. Forget who the honcho was. I got my order and then some just trying to help the gent out. Couple of buddies said I was nuts, "what are you going to do with 10k of 30 caliber gas checks?"
Not knocking your efforts at all. Just don't want to see anyone get them into a bind. Easy for some to commit, harder to come up with the funds.
I did a group buy for 50 k of 22 match ammo quite a few years back. Case price was way cheaper than brick price. I fronted the whole thing myself. Well, there was confusion on a "case" compared to a "brick"! Talk about being in a tight spot. It was ramen noodles and hot dogs for a long time. I refused to break a case open. Told them you guys get enough for a case and you split it up. Gave them a week to come up with funds. Got rid of one case that way. Forward a year, guy has funds for a case. I told him that years price and he got ticked, "I am not a bank" was my reply. Jeff

Yes, HALF up front, the rest on completion, 3% for credit card. My run ended up being 50,644 pcs. Shipping from Star-Line was free, like always.......
A different head stamp and overall length was all that was required for .41spl. They might require more for an entirely new case. Is 10mm a straight wall case?
Jeff is right about having your money tied up for a while. I had a vague idea of selling some .41spl, sometime in the future, but it was a coupala years before I sold any. In the end I got my money back with a modest profit and I probably won't run out of brass. I had the money, right then and I wanted the brass for myself. The thing is, it would have bought several handguns or a new compact car, and it was essentially all cash......

401 Powermag is essentially a rimmed 10 mm magnum
