Which Loctite is preferred for scope mounting ? I see I have years old red and blue in the basement.

Only one of them was bought for gun use. Somebody gave me the other for something household. Heck if I can remember which is which.

Either a very small dab of Blue, or a length of monofilament fishing line.

Blue, just a dab will do ya.
Red is only for things that you never want to unscrew in any ones life time ever again.

Which Loctite is preferred for scope mounting ? I see I have years old red and blue in the basement. ***** Either red or blue works. If red Loctite, I would apply to base/receiver, but not to screw threads. Takes heat to soften (weaken) Loctite, more heat for red than for blue. Clean base & receiver----and screw holes in receiver----with acetone or lacquer thinner. Apply Loctite to base(s). Apply fingernail polish to screw threads. This arrangement resists substantial recoil. David Bradshaw

Purple loctite is a good choice because it will prevent loosening from vibration and recoil but does not require heat to remove.
