I shoot the 359-640 plain base out of the Maximum all the time on book max loads of 4227. Cast @12bhn, powder coated. No leading and accurate. Lg hp pin bullet really messes up a coyote. Cast at 15bhn it still expands in a deer and is more accurate at 100yds.

It has been when it originally was run. Now it is in a plain base mold. The 357 Carbine was offered in both also. I’m shooting the carbine bullet in 357 rifles water dropped from the plain base mold with no problem. The noses are different and are both “640” style nose designs. Just bought my first mold. A MP 359 Hammer. This is one of your designs correct ?

Here are two pic of the MP 359 shot from a S&W 686 with a 4 inch barrel into milk jugs filled with water. The third jug stopped the bullet. Load was HP-38 in .38 spec. case with a Federal #100 primer. the alloy is 50/50 COWW/SOWW+ a guessed 1.5-2.0% tin. This was not my doing but a friends.

That looks like a top level 38 Special data load. If it was loaded into the 38-44 or mid range 357 mag, the nose would probably blow off. My 38-44 loads are the old level full loads. Nice performance though.

Yes sir, that looks like a very good performance. That appears to be the large hollow point pin ? What is the purpose of the penta point? They appear to expand with petals instead of mushrooming . Is it more of a controlled expansion ? Would you recommend a newbie caster start with the solid pins ? Thanks

Yes sir, that looks like a very good performance. Yes, it is. That appears to be the large hollow point pin ? It appears to be from the expansion shown. What is the purpose of the penta point? It simply was somebodies wanted look . They do partion the petals out IF your load is right. They appear to expand with petals instead of mushrooming . Is it more of a controlled expansion ? If the load is right. Would you recommend a newbie caster start with the solid pins ? Thanks With this bullet at normal 45 Colt load levels….. NO, use the hollow pints.

It's easy and just as fast if they were solids. Once you get the knack the bullets fall right out of the mould right off the pins.

Just keep the pins warm and turn the mold completely over so the still soft bullets drop straight down off the pins and it's like casting regular bullets using the MP molds

Hey Bob, can you post the .312 bullet length chart you did showing what bullet will fit in which gun?
I can’t find it….
Thanks

The 359-640 lg hp cast from range scrap +2% tin loaded over 15gr H-110 usually sheds it's mushroom in the 3rd milk jug of water with the base continuing on through 6 jugs. On deer, it usually stays together on broadside lung shots leaving a 1" or so exit.

Is there a list or some type of directory to the bullets you have designed, Bob? I seem to be accumulating molds with your designs without it being intentional, so maybe I should just start being intentional about it and collect them all.
