Rod, good luck to you. Keep plugging along and things usually get better. After that buy gets delivered, we might revisit a much lighter bullet.

Has any one got any experience with underwood ammo, or the lehigh defense xtreme penetrators? Would be good I think if we could get some lead bullets done the same way. Seems would only need some one to design a mold, then we could have the same kind of performance from lead and save money.

What would a 7mm (.284”) from Miha look like?
He “needs” to make something for us 7mm users...would it be based on 312-159 Hunting with its HP/FP or something totally new? I am using MP’s 312-159, 311-180 and 311410, plus #38 Ness safety bullet in my 300 BLK. Some nice brass mould would be nice to feed my 7x64, 7x65R and 7x57R...

Top to bottom are the following scaled to 0.285" diameter: 311-180 (30 Sil) 312-159 (308 Hunting bullet) 311640 (new 300 BLK or lighter 308 bullet) You need to try it... Copy the drawing as a jpeg and scale the screen till the 0.285" bullet matches a case neck and see how they look to you, then report the results. You make some very nice posts!

Several people have given their thoughts on what premium solids versus cast do on big heavy boned game (not withstanding what Ross Seyfried has written). Most all of our standard home grown indigenous game will go down easily with the gamut of the cast bullet designs we use now. I've shot thru several heavy deer with solids and lost them (all had their hearts burst apart as I did find them when they started smelling and did an autopsy on each....they didn't bleed because all the holes were plugged with fat)....... that has never happened with the hollow points I use which BTW go on out the other side of the animal. If I perchance got to hunt something that bites, scratches, swats or stomps, the hollow point will be much shorter length in the nose, but it will still be there. I don't really like to have to shoulder shoot something to keep it in view till it dies.

I did what suggested with 7x57R, 7x64, 7mmRemMag cases and they would all fit just fine for first two caliber (base of bullet not protruding below neck, lube groves inside neck, crimp grove at case mouth), it would protrude into 7mmRM case a bit, which I don’t consider a problem since I have a RCBS 7mm mould (long, 184grs lubed, GC) and I shot many lubed ones through my 7mmRM with 5744. I lean toward 308 Hunting design, nice FP, big strong HP......in 7mm (.285”) 170grs in solid, 161 in HP would be perfect. I got a roe buck, a chamois and one fox with 312-159 and last year I used 311-410 for two roebucks and one fox. Deadly I will post on Castboolets if there is any interest for MP Cramer mould in 7mm and what weight would be most popular? Thanks for compliments about posts but it is you who designed many beautiful cast beauties!

Would you please describe the driving band relationship to the stepped-down nose on this design? Is it for the purpose of bore riding, forcing cone fit, etc? I believe it is one of yours. Thanks.

Would you please describe the driving band 0.452"+0.0005" to 0.001" relationship to the stepped-down nose 0.443" + the same tolerance as the bands. It is just very slightly under land diameter at 0.452", but the option is there for 0.454" diameter also which should get you nose engraving when shot. That all depends on just what alloy you use and it's antimony/arsenic content. Let it set for a while with good antimony content and it should grow some in diameter if that is what you want. on this design? Is it for the purpose of bore riding large enough it should work well, forcing cone fit, etc? I believe it is one of yours Yes, it is!. Thanks.
