Yes FREEDOM ARMS gets it right, they get all of if right. You get what you pay for with out a doubt. But as far as Ruger, S&W, and others it you are gona drill a hole could you at least make it the correct size? I just don't think thats asking too much.

my SS/Blkhwk 45 colt was a .450 opened to .453 so it should shoot fine ... i had a vaquero BCC 4 3/4" with a .445 throat and a rough chamber that would still take a factory 45 colt round , as you can imagine recoil was murder... accuracy was nonexistant...

I AGREE...DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME....AND KEEP ALL FIVE OR SIX HOLES EXACTLY THE SAME.....DOESN'T SOUND TOO HARD TO ACCOMPLISH....

It was short lived. I know someone that bought a recently built 45 Colt. As before, they mic'd between 0.448 and 0.450". -Lee www.singleactions.comI was under the impression that the New Vaqueros were the only 45s with correct throat dimensions.

Ruger has no monopoly on throat dia. issues in .45 Colt. At least small can be fixed. I've got a S&W Model 25-5 with throats that measure a full .459 So what do you do in that situation, get a 44 mag cylinder bored out to 45 Colt with correctly (.4525) sized throats and fitted to your gun?

A lot has been posted about the 45 colt throat dia. but what would be the best diameter for the 357 BH. conv.? I shoot mostly hard cast 158 gr.LSWC sized to 358. I havent measured . the cylinder yet. I have been shooting up a lot of older reloads of different powder charges so I really dont know what kind of group its capable of yet. Could this job be done on a Sunnen Hone or is reaming better if needed?

A sunnen hone is the way to go if you have one.

Sounds like a lot of polishing.

Not with a Sunnen it will take care of the throats fast.
