Finally got the call from Dan Pederson at Classic barrel. The 50 Alaskan 1895 arrived Friday. The work looks great and the price was half what everyone else quoted. Dan apologized for the delay and lack of communication. Said he is trying to get caught up. I will post pictures later. I am still looking for the Brockman front sight I bought for it. Misplaced it in the interim. It started as a 22" ported 1895. We had it rebored and rechambered. Putting the Brockman front (If I can find it) and an XS rear sight and will change the lever out to a DRC big loop.

Yes. Dan came highly recommended and has an outstanding reputation. I had posted on the old forum asking someone to go by the shop when I lost contact with them. Apparently Dan reorganized and is in the process of catching up his back log. The work appears to be of the highest quality. The 95 action is noticeably smoother than when I sent it to him.

pics coming altough it aint much to look at. looks like a stock 1895 22" ported 45-70 other than the big hole in the end. Didnt get to do any formal grouping but on a 50 yard pepper popper it keeps them real close. the buffalo bore 525 grain lead at 1800 plus (according to their website) knocks a heck of a ding in the 3/4 steel plate. Did I mention the recoil?

Nice. I still kick myself for not buying the 50 Alaskan mate to the 500 Linebaugh Nimrod I bought from a gent in Alaska. It had an octogon barrel and was a beauty. Look forward to seeing yours.

Did I mention the recoil? This is the load I shoot out of my .50 AK revolver (the one in my signature), and we have gotten a chronographed and consistent 1,575 out of my 8-inch barrel. Let me tell you about the recoil! ;D I let my grip up a bit on my eighth round out of it this afternoon and the front sight split my head open -- bled like a stuck pig........ ;D I have no doubt that load will meet or exceed the claims made by the manufacturer. Every load I have tested from BB has exceeded the claims.
