So... if you never poke your nose into the single action thread, you may not know about my adventure into a custom cartridge... the 475 WTH ( WTH could stand for why the heel... what the heck... or insert your own 4 letter word starting with "H" ) it is a full length 45 Colt case, with a 476 heel seated bullet fit into the mouth of the 45 Colt case, resulting in a cartridge similar to the common 22 LR, in that the bullet is the same diameter as the 45 Colt case... most of the development work has been done, or is getting finished up, & I was looking at starting to plan my next project, just to keep my mind busy ( I was actually thinking a 56-50 Spencer chambered revolver ) but my retired machinist buddy reeled me back in... apparently we're not done with the 476 WTH yet, as I was over at his shop, & he blew me away, when he said, why don't you buy a Redhawk in 45 Colt, & I'll make a barrel for the 475 WTH ( my buddy is a single action fan, & doesn't normally want to touch a double action )( single action, & apparently double action also ) conversions from 45 Colt to 476 WTH are pretty easy... bore the cylinder "basically" straight through, & change the barrel to a 475 barrel... boom... a 6 shot 475 double action... hmmm I already have one in my 480 Ruger Alaskan, but the prospect is interesting non the less... well... I was on Ruger's site looking at Redhawks ( I don't currently own a Redhawk, & know very little about them ) I have a GP-100 & a couple of Alaskans... but have not played with the middle brother... going through the website, I saw a gun that I did not know existed ( I was there looking at 45 Colt options ) but I saw an 8 shot 357 magnum snubbie that really peaked my interest... in all my futzing on the forums, I don't remember hearing about this gun... anyone have one??? how do you like it??? www.ruger.com/products/redhawk/specSheets/5033.html

looking forward to that John
I'm doubting the need for the 476 WTH Redhawk, as it's nearly the same weight as my 480 Ruger Alaskan... but I am interested in this 8 shot 357...
one of those frees up my stainless 4" GP-100 for a 44 Special or 10mm conversion... either of which would be wonderful

Think the .476WTH is as needed in a RH as it is in a BH. The logic still works. Did see an article on that 357 snub. If I run into it around here today will get back to you guys. Friends coming later, shooting will happen.

Would like to see Ruger redo the Redhawk so it has the GP/SRH action. I've owned three Redhawks over the years: 2 5.5 inch 44s and a 4" 44. Heavy beasts with mediocre actions, always defaulted to my Smiths in 44.
I could handle the weight today, even in my 70s but the action needs to be able to smooth out like a Match Champion.

8 rounds of 357 is a good thing. Looking forward to the article on this Redhawk.
