No doubt most have already seen it, but I just finally sat down and watched my DVD the other day. Very good, intense movie. Whatever else Leo may be, he is a very good actor. Tom Hardy as the fictitious bad guy is very good also, though in general the better actor of the two I think. The basic story of Hugh Glass is of course a true one but this movie was based on a novelization of the story, thus the added drama of murder and Glass tracking him down. Not how it happened. A more accurate rendition of this story is Man in the Wilderness with the late Irishman Richard Harris, a very good movie also, though not as wild and crazy as Revenant. All in all a good movie, great scenery, (Montana, Alberta and Argentina!?), well acted, beautifully filmed and good score.

Call me a stick in the mud but there was too much computer generated stuff for me to enjoy the movie. Everything from the bear mauling to the "horse" jumping off the cliff. Just my opinion of course but not one I will see again.

That horse off the cliff into the tree was pretty ridiculous, gotta admit. No way he would survive that, after being mauled.

The phony stuff just gets registered as such and then my mind moves along with the story. There is so much inaccurate stuff in movies I wouldn't be able to enjoy much if I was bothered by it all.
I will say, the one thing that bugs me the most is when a person is grabbed as a convenient hostage and the bad guy yells at the LEO: "drop your gun or I'll....." and then the officer complies. What a bunch of malarkey. I've actually stopped watching a series because of that one.... only to go back weeks later and start watching because everything else was pretty entertaining.

I guess that is why I watch MAYBE one movie a year. I just don't see much that looks entertaining and if the movie is based on a book and I have read it then I never go. My mind is too busy reconciling and comparing the two different medias to enjoy the film.

About all I watch is westerns..... most of what ia put out anymore is terrible. Most of the actors of today not only pretend to be a character.... they pretend to be men.
