Besides his writing, Skeeter was known for his love of the 44 Special, Single Action revolvers and being a connoisseur of fine gunleather. One of his favorite single action revolvers was his 7.5” Ruger Flattop 44 magnum, which I consider to be THE Sixgunner’s Sixgun. Skeeter carried his Flattop in a classic, floral carved Lawrence model 120, on a gunbelt made for him by a leatherworking friend. One of my favorite things to do is re-create classic and historical gunleather, holsters of yesterday, built and carried by the men whose footsteps we follow; Myres, Askins, Lawrence, Skelton, Sparks, and Keith just to name a few of the giants that paved the way. Barranti Leather is now creating it’s own version of Skeeter’s holster. Introducing the Barranti Classic Skeeter Rig. For 7.5” large frame Ruger Blackhawks, Super Blackhawks and Bisleys only.

Mike, that's amazing! I think Skeeter is smiling right now & looking for a box of handloads so he can go test his new rig, fantastic.

That is great Mike! Are you going to offer the belt as well? I would be in for a belt holster set if you offer the sets. I actually have two of the 7 1/2" flat tops on the way so I will be needing something for them to ride in.

Looks like I’ll have to keep my eyes skint for a 7 1/2” 44 Flat top.

This is a project I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and thanks to Bart’s help, it’s happening!
