WHIT... no disrespect meant... but honestly... that is a long ways from my idea of a "perfect packing pistol" in the 1st place, IMO... it's much too "perfect" to be a "packing pistol" When I think of my guns, my 480 Ruger, Alaskan, comes to mind as my "perfect packing pistol"... that ugly rubber grip does a great job absorbing recoil, & I would not cringe too badly if I dragged it through the thorny brush... the grips on your's, ( pictured ) are so purdy, that I'd probably shoot myself in the foot for being so stupid as to drag it into the brush... I can rationalize that my Alaskan, being a 6 shot gun, & being double action is better prepared for packing... but in reality I'd be just making up excuses for carrying something so brutish looking, when there are works of art out there such as the gun pictured in this thread... but, be honest now... are you really going to be packing that lil princess???

Whitworth, I have been working my own 480 Ruger in my brain. Speaking for myself, a PPP has to be a bit more than a joy to carry all day. It's also got to be tough enough to take a tumble. So for me, the factory rear will have to be replaced with a more durable unit. What say ye?
By the way, yours is coming along nicely.

but, be honest now... are you really going to be packing that lil princess??? Hell yeah I will. I have customs that are a lot nicer than this that get regularly dragged through the brush. I don't own any safe queens, nor safe princesses for that matter. Besides, I prefer a single-action to a double, and often carry an SA for backup duty. That said, no harm in your PPP looking good as well as being functional.

It'll be getting a Bowen Rough Country more than likely.

WHIT... not trying to put ya down... just trying to complement ya in a little different way... she's a beauty I didn't take offense to what you posted. We all have our own idea of what is optimal and we are all entitled to our own opinions. That said, my PPP is a hellofalot nicer looking than any SRH!

That was basically MY question. How are you going to conceal it? Or can you open carry where you are? PPP to me says take it anywhere and everywhere... Envy-inducing though....

I don't think anything could ever be done to a SRH that would put it in the same league as this gun...

I have no intention of concealing it. It's for field use.

I wouldn't trade either my 454 or my 480 Alaskans... they are much to utilitarian & are kind of ruggedly handsome, like me ... that said, I do love my single actions though... much more graceful & balanced... & you throw some pretty grip material on one & they quickly outshine the rugged functionality of said double action

I have no intention of concealing it. It's for field use. Oh come on! It isn't THAT hard... I have been known to conceal my blackhawk. Am right now in fact. Still, you do have a point. Something that nice, its hard to hide away... and what happens if you had to use it? I wouldn't want it sitting in police evidence.

It's not a matter of being able to conceal it, I have no need to.
