Well I can add to the Ruger haters list. I have always wanted a 1911 in 9mm. Just because. I got a Ruger SR1911 lightweight Commander several months back. I just got back from FedEx sending it back to Ruger.
Multiple range trips, 7-8 different factory loads and multiple shooters it was averaging 8-9" groups at 20yds.
Now Im no pro shooter but I dont own a handgun that cant do WAY better than that! I will post an update when I know something. If they tell me "its within spec" I might just sell it instead of paying someone to make it right. I don't think I have ever shot a more inaccurate 1911.

well, there cant be thread choke on it since it isn't a revolver and there is no cylinder so the throats cant be way undersized. sad to hear about your 1911

Please try some handloads with cast bullets sized to 358. Our experience with factory nine is about the same. Or Stephen Camps load, six of unique and a 124 xtp.

If the silly thing will not print with factory loads, there's no sense in keeping it. Ruger won't change their ways if people continue to accept inferior products.

Wow, that's disappointing to hear. But if multiple shooters are having the same problem, it's the gun. I hope they make it right.

We have a Ruger SR9 that has been an excellent pistol, extremely reliable and accurate with most loads. We have had the best groups with W231 and various FMJ's. But it really should shoot better than that with any factory load. I hope Ruger fixes or replaces it.

That's disappointing to hear! I've been thinking about a 9mm SR1911 to go with my .45 Commander SR1911 so I'll be watching this and hoping for good news...

I would recommend trying the .358" diameter bullets; many nominal 9mm pistols are really .38s, going by the groove diameter. Other than that, I am inclined to agree with Quick draw McGraw.

Maybe one of Kart's GREAT barrels is in your future.

I'd bet that Ruger's 9mm 1911 accuracy requirements are much less than you are hoping to see. How well is the barrel bushing fitted to the slide and barrel? How well do the barrel lugs fit the slide stop? With the slide forward can you pust the barrel hood down? If you want to keep the beast consider a barrel upgrade. These days they make "easy fit" barrels for the 1911. These are not the full up match barrels but are much less labor intensive to fit and look to shoot pretty good..

Thanks for that Axe. Not sure I am up to fitting a barrel on a 1911. And I cant answer your questions. Its already gone back to Ruger.

Got my Ruger back yesterday. Paperwork says "Repaired barrel". Nothing else. Disappointing there is no detail at all. I can see nothing with my eyes. I am working out of town away from the place I am staying in the country from dark in th morning to dark when I get home.
MILs Summer house thankfully so dont have to pay for a hotel, but no TV, no cellphone, no internet. I will be back home every 2-3 weekends. I will post a shooting update as soon as I can.
