What do y'all guys think would be the best Montana cast bullet for deer hunting? would it be the 350 grain wfn-gc or the 400 lfn gc or the 460 semi was cutter Keith style bullet? around 1000 to 1100 fps. I'm new to the cast bullets group and the 500 linebaugh. just trying to gain so@e knowledge. Thanks to all that comment ahead of time.

Which ever one shoots best! None of 'em will bounce off that's for sure! No need for a gas check unless for some reason you can't get a plane base to shoot accurate.

The 350 would b easiest shooting. 400 gr is a happy medium. I don't know what u would need a 460 gr bullet for . but, if it shoots better than the others I suppose. There is nothing wrong with gas checks. What distance do you plan on shooting ? Myself, I would try the wfn and lfn boolits and unless the lfn really shot better than the wfn, I would use the wfn. Provided it had a really wide nose.

I really like a 400 grain between 900 and 1000 fps in my 500 Linebaugh. It's very pleasant load to shoot year around and that helps my ability to hit a deer.

I used my then new to me 500max last year on a pronghorn. I used MBW 400 or 465'sccant recall exactly right now, what I did learn was it was too much bullet. Those big 50's benefit from having resistance and unless you plan on shooting them end to end there's probably not enough. I hit my antelope 3 times from about 35-85 yards, good hits in vital areas, I think it's just too much bullet and not enough game. Your results may vary, just know that a hard cast bullet is likely to just poke a hole. If I use my 50's on medium size game again, I intend to use either a softer bullet, or a jacketed one to get expansion. You might call MBW and ask them to cast you the 350WFN softer like 8 BHN, the big flat nose and that soft should make a good medium game bullet.

Try the 450K which is softer and has a pb...I've never shot an animal with one yet but at a modest velocity 800-900fps it with have two holes leaking blood on most shots...
It amazes me how hard the 12" steel gets whacked by these big slugs at those comparably low velocities...No deer will absorb too many of those placed well.
