Given the circumstances where the individual is walking towards armed police with a firearm that they are discharging AT the officers, the necessary amount of bullets is the number it takes to stop the threat. Considering he was not responding at first to being shot, I can see why the officers felt the need to be certain he would not get back up and continue his attack. Situations like this are always messy and unpleasant. But I think we need to look at it from the point of view of the officers who were being shot at.
I don't see why the person manning Facebook for Alien Gear thought their comment was a good idea. Pretty damn stupid.

I would saying shooting at a cop is stupid. Shooting at a whole bunch of cops is really really stupid....

I was always trained to keep shooting until the threat was over.... period. I go home; too bad so sad if the the "bad guy" doesn't. He made the choice to start shooting at people, consequences are there to live or die with. As they say, "play stupid games, win stupid prizes."

Whether you shoot someone five times or forty five times, what's the difference? If someone is shooting at you, you need to stop him. The only safe way I see at that point is to kill him. Five bullets or forty five bullets, he's just as dead.

What's the problem? The guy brought it on himself. I noticed in the comments a lot of discussion about the bullets that hit the pavement in front of the miscreant.."where did those go"? Probably bounced up into the guy lying there. No one seemed to care too much where the criminals bullets landed. The comments *always* bring out the guys with advanced combat training from the Pookieville Mall Ninja Shooting Skills Academy...who never miss and would never shoot the guy but one time...in his left eye, regardless of distance. ;-) Almost funny to read.
