Can you shoot 45 long colt in a BFR 454 casull? I thought normally you could but their instruction manual does not indicate that. thanks

Yes it's safe, but the cylinder must be cleaned to shoot the longer 454's in after you shoot the shorter 45 colt's.
The best thing to do is load the 454 brass to the level you want.

i never use short brass in longer chambers myself,hate having to scrub out the extra fouling that it causes and in my experiences when i first started out shooting & reloading as a teenager accuracy was better with the full length cases so always stuck to them. also read Handloader #260 for June '09 for detailed answers from Brian Pearce on his experience & thoughts on the subject if you would like more information on this.

I used to have Super Redhawk 454, and I shot 45LC's in it most of the time, never had a big problem, just clean it before you stick a 454 in there. Can't you ge ta 410 shotshell for that?
