Shot this warthog at night with FA`s 475 and factory 400 gr. XTP`s.....Ran the usual 50 yds and dropped. Along for the hunt was a young apprentice PH.... A real nice kid........ Anyway, my PH said to hit him again which I did and before he could be stopped the apprentice reached down to grab the hog`s left tusk when the pig opened his eyes, made this hellicous sound and twisted his head sticking the kid in the back of his hand with its right tusk. That little spot of blood near the eye is from the bullet I placed there, from my 500WE, to finally kill the big guy... Next morning at breakfast the head of the clan looked over at the kid and his bandage hand and said "you learned a lesson the hard way".....

I have no experience, but I have heard that hogs can do a lot more damage than that in a fast time. Sounds like he was a little lucky. Oh, and does that mean that you brought too little a gun/caliber to go after hogs? I didn't think a second shot would be necessary with that big of a bullet.... I kid!

Just used the wrong bullet, a good cast slug....oh well Used a 370 gr. cast in my 475 FA on one of 3 Warthogs, he traveled about 50 inches, both front shoulders were jello. It's amazing how fast Warthogs are! Dick
