I've aquired a Remington Model 7 AAC in 300BLK (technically Whisper, I know) with a 16" barrel. It's a neat little bolt-action that I figured would be good for my boys to start deer hunting with. Given its size, it should be handy afield, in the stand or the blind. The scope is a SIG Whiskey5 1-5x20 (throwing that in there in case anybody has any experience with SIG scopes, this is my first). Eventually, it's going to don a suppressor. I'm interested in what 300blk bullets perform well on deer. I'm curious on every type of .30 cal bullet available, whether factory copper jacketed or cast. Subsonic or super. There are plenty of great theories floating around the internet, but the final arbiter is the deer. I've read that the Barnes 110's perform well, but that is about the only bullet I can find field reports on. All other bullet reviews are about accuracy and feeding. I'm curious if I can get away with 30/30 bullets in a bolt action... Also highly curious about cast sub's on game.
Thanks in advance.

I've seen a couple deer drop from 125gr Ballistic Tips. That's what I use in my Whisper(s) Also one Russian boar flop right there to a 150 Nos. BT All out of 10 and 11" pistols.

The 125gr BT was always touted in the .300Whisper Contenders a couple decades ago. I have a .300 Ruger American Ranch and used the Barnes 110gr on two does last season and they worked well. Full expansion and complete penetration. Only recovered because it snagged on the hide at the exit wound. I have some of the Lehigh bullets that are supposed to expand at subsonic velocities but have yet to test them on game or ballistic media. The TiRant .45 I was going to use with .300 subs should be released from NFA jail any time now.

Without a doubt the Barnes 110. I have used on lots of pigs. If it hit them, I was going to get a kill. Even if it wasn't in vitals, there was enough damage I could get the second shot to bring them down because it did enough damage to slow them up

Barnes 110. Quiet with a can even at super sonic velocities and very accurate. I have the M700 version and replaced the stock with an HS Precision take off and I think it has a small 2-10 Nightforce on it, can't remember right off. But it's a fun one for sure. Subs are crazy quiet in this rifle!

I have another vote for the Barnes 110 grain. I use the 110gr TAC-TX.
