I own a few Ruger M77 bolt rifles. Is this of what you speak?

Sorry about that gentleman, I had a partial case head separation in my .270 Winchester M77 a while back. I did some research on it and I'm 99% sure I've fixed the problem.
Pretty strong action on the M77 for sure, anyone ever experienced a similar problem to me?

A head separation is usually due to oversizing of brass. Or the headspace itself is too long due to too many hot loads, causing setback of the lugs. Not common but not unheard of. What were you able to determine in your rifle? The 77 is a favorite rifle of mine and I have owned more than a few, have a few right now in fact. Have a .30-06 RS, a 7x57 RS, a MkII RSM .338 mag, a custom bbl'd. .280 Rem RS, and a .35 Whelen RS.

New barrel installed & used a maximum load I worked up with the original barrel.
That & full length resizing my brass, found a weak spot on the 3rd round. I can email the picture if interested. Can't seem to size it small enough to load on this page.

How do you mean weak spot on the 3rd round? Weak spot in what? Sizing down pix isn't the issue here its the use of a host to post pix. You cant load from your own device without using a host.

Max loads can rear ugly heads at strange times. Imo, that batch of brass is suspect . Neck sizing is the way to go or shoulder bump w-2 thousands with a neck&shoulder bump die. You should check your head space. Which M 77 do You have? Tang safety , Mk ll or Hawkeye?
