The best elk hunter I have ever known told me he killed 8 elk with a 243 growing up on the ranch before someone told him it wasn't a elk rifle....

He's a better shot than I. This coyote took a 100gr. softpoint from stem to stern and still ran 200yds.

Scott - try the Nosler Ballistic Tip ... don't recall if it is 95 gr or 100 gr. I will give spectacular performance on coyotes and whitetail. Nice rifle. I have one exactly like it in 30-06 I use for hogs ... right down to the sling

If it went stem to stern, then it did it's job! What more can you ask of a bullet? Just darned tough animals. All the coyotes I ever shot with a .243 were broadside and it always blew a huge hole in them... I thought it was too much gun.
Beautiful gun BTW... love that Mannlicher!

Scott - I was out with mine last evening ... it has a 4x33 Leupold on it now and, except for one embarrassing series of shots in which my scope had apparently been knocked out of commission, has never missed a shot on game. That 18.5" barrel just makes for one DANDY jeep gun.
Are you in Texas or some other part of the plains?

Mark, I have seen the rifle, hat, and boots, before but I have never seen that Scott jasper. Looks to be one of those high plains runners.

Guilty as charged. Iam right north of Beaver, Ok... on the Kansas side. 77rsi's are about as handy and shiny as it gets. I find it with me alot of the time. Although the #1's can get lonely fast if one is out with the bolt gun all the time.

Simple solution. I keep the 77RSI between the seats of the Ford for those quick necessaries, and at least one #1 cased in the back seat. I can never remember WHICH #1 is cased, though, so wind up having such a wide variety of ammunition floating around the truck it is something of an ordeal to sort it out.
Have you seen the new Ruger Hawkeye RSI?

I have seen the new Hawkeye Rsi... well I like the pad color, but that is about it. I had a 77Rsi 30-06 also, that particular rifle did'nt shoot worth a hoot, traded it for a 1A '06. These unique Rugers are so addictive. Do you have a #1 Rsi in 7x57? It is my favorite {i think?}

Scott I have the full stock CZ 527 in .223 Rem and the CZ 550 in 6.5x55 both with set triggers. They look good and shoot better.

Tom... I've looked at the CZ's. Do your rifles have a "backwards" safety?

I have been wondering whether I'd like the Hawkeye treatment on the RSI ... I am starting to think that particular rifle really looks better with the high gloss blue. My 77RSI 30-06 is a shooting son of a gun, lucky me. My 1-A 30-06, not so much ... but did some forearm switching around among my #1's and it is doing better. I don't have a #1RSI in 7x57. My RSI#1 is a 30-06. I have a 1-A 7x57 that is one HECK of a shooter and is my favorite rifle ... well, along with my 1-A 243, 1-V 25-06, 1-V 22-250, 1-S 45-70, 1-B 270 ... I swear I may be missing one or two. Ah ... I have a 1-A in .223 that just doesn't get used much. When I find something I like, I tend to get in a rut about it I have seen the new Hawkeye Rsi... well I like the pad color, but that is about it. I had a 77Rsi 30-06 also, that particular rifle did'nt shoot worth a hoot, traded it for a 1A '06. These unique Rugers are so addictive. Do you have a #1 Rsi in 7x57? It is my favorite {i think?}
