Well I've seen a lot of deer & elk the last 9 days but still haven't hung anything on the meat pole. I did watch a poacher shoot a doe (gut shot) & let it run off, made to attempt to retreive it, also found 13 geese & 2 ducks someone had dumped in the tall grass & left to rot, slob hunters drive me nuts, road hunters, sign shooters, etc, most drive around drinking some group tightner looking for something to shoot from the truck. Anyway, I did manage to whack a nice badger, he tried to give me the slip in the lava rocks but he was too big to fit underneath & I smoked him with the second shot, missed him running at mach 4. Neve tried a dutch oven badger before! ;D This is the little doe someone shot & left, I took the game warden out to the deer & we loaded it up, it was sour. This is the pile of geese I found in the tall grass, just left to rot! A very nice badger, well furred, good claws & fatter than me! Whacked him with the Lispey's 44 special, 250 gr Keith & Skeeters load of 7.5 grs Unique, Skeeter would have approved. He's got some very good fangs & claws. He's much bigger than a #14 dutch oven, I'll have to marinade him for several months! ;D Dick

Dick,
We all have found slob hunters, guys who leave dirty camps, shoot bucks and realize they were smaller than legal and they left them, it sure brings a hunt down in a hurry. Keep at it though.
I am glad to see all the holster wear that 44sp is getting, I would hate to think my 44sp twin sister had become a safe queen! That is one mean looking badger though...

Sixshot et. al.,
Any idea how much a badger pelt fetches on the market these days? I'm interested in purchasing one in hopes of making a set of shaving brushes.
Nice shooting, btw and a great looking sixgun!
Max.

Dick, I think we all hate slob hunters sorry you had the experience of their crimes. About that Badger, I hope you skinned him & will take him to the taxidermist. I have seen rugs made out of them & they are really beautiful. I have one at the taxidermist right now, but it won't be till next summer till he's done. Thanks for sharing pictures with us & for letting the Warden know about the poachers. Frank

I have spoken to 2 different people in the last couple weeks that have told me they have seen very large carcass piles that had backstraps and antlers removed. Both said thathey looked like large poaching operations
