Some may recall, Axehandle sold off a few Dan Wesson SuperMags in March. I bought the lot and they arrived in better condition than the photos suggested. Really doubt any of them have been fired much. I decided to have Lawrence Bruce (LB Custom Grips) make them a matched set. Done out of high figure English walnut, I chose the traditional large frame contour with gloss finish. DanWessonArms.net supplied the aftermarket emblems. .357 Maximum, with the spare factory barrel ![](http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z149/AtomicPinUp/Dan%20Wesson%20357%20SuperMag_zpscoknmuiv.jpg) .375 SuperMag ![](http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z149/AtomicPinUp/Dan%20Wesson%20375%20SuperMag_zpsqwwil8jl.jpg) .414 SuperMag ![](http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z149/AtomicPinUp/Dan%20Wesson%20414%20SuperMag_zpsalnmjniw.jpg) .445 SuperMag ![](http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z149/AtomicPinUp/Dan%20Wesson%20445%20SuperMag_zpsqj3x7szg.jpg) The distinct "SuperMag" inscription ![](http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z149/AtomicPinUp/SuperMag%20Logo_zpsgvuvog4e.jpg) Barrel wrench and cylinder gap gauge: ![](http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z149/AtomicPinUp/Dan%20Wesson%20Tools_zpska7odfia.jpg) -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

I was hoping we'd see more of those guns when they came in. Can we expect somewhere down the road a testing and comparison of this collection?
Those look really great, grips included. I'd be ecstatic with any one of them.

Lee.... a look down the 8-inch .357 Maximum barrels will show whether those barrels have the original 1:14” twist.
How to read DWA M40 twist in 8” bbl * 1:14----a land starting @ 6 o’clock at the forcing cone reaches the muzzle about 11 o’clock. * 1:16----a land starting @ 6 o’clock and reaches the muzzle @ 12 o’clock (180-degree arc). * 1:18-3/4----a land starting @ 6 o’clock and not reaches the muzzle about 1 or 2 o’clock.
Believe yours are 1:14 or 1:16, both of which accounted for a mountain of wins in silhouette.
Your .375 Super Mag barrel may have a slow twist. Check groove diameter, frequently generous at 377-inch, which would obviate jacketed bullets for accuracy. Appropriate cast very accurate.
As part of your continuing report, chamber exit & groove diameter of gun would be good information for reloaders. As Dan Wesson Arms generally did a great job on the forcing cone, photos may help convince doubters as to the importance of getting this detail right. David Bradshaw

That is a great set of Dan Wesson SuperMags. Here's a pic of my original DW 414 SuperMag with 10" barrel. Years ago I sent the gun back to DW and had a un-fluted cylinder and a 6" comp barrel fitted. ![DW 414SM](http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r75/Decker103/Image002-3.jpg) ![DW 414SM with un-fluted cylinder and comp barrel](http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r75/Decker103/Image010-4_zpsbgjpkehi.jpg)

I would love to get a 414SM one day....may have to start looking for a stainless Max shooter and have one built?

Beautiful guns that would be equally at home in the woods and fields. Had a friend with a .445 that I got to shoot. It had had a few too many steamy loads thru it and was need of a gunsmith when I got to try it. It had some shake rattle and roll going on but still shot well, with a scope it shot as well as my RH 44mag with a dot sight. We were both using 300gr XTP's, with mine seated long to try and make up the difference..
