I'm looking to set my 10/22 up as the ultimate first-timer 22. For my purposes, I want an optic dot on it. This will make it a good option to trick friends into trying steel challenge shooting.
So, what Budget dot do you recommend? The UltraDot is the top of my budget, I like the tube for lining up inexperienced eyes, and when I get bored, I can put it on something else. However, it's more than I want to spend. I'd like to stay under $100. Any recommendations?

I like the Primary Arms advanced micro and have several. If not the advanced, which has better controls and much longer battery life, their standard micro or the Bushnell equivalent are also good. This is the standard model on a Ruger American .22LR.

I didn't too much care for the peep sights made for the American Rimfire so I put together my own package. The rail is EGW. The rear sight is that from the CZ Scorpion above. It's similar to the AR type rear sight except that it has four apertures at the same elevation. Unfortunately they're only available as sets from CZ but there's an aftermarket set that's supposed to be available at some point. The front is a Tech Sights tower on a Marble's base that's .225" high for a .625" barrel. It all works pretty good.

Here's the front. I like to use a standard birdcage in lieu of a thread protector to better protect the crown when the rifle's riding muzzle down in my truck or UTV. Plus the suppressor was in soak when I took pics.
