Does anyone know the owner of the birdshead vaquero conversion to .500 Jrh that Jack Huntington did? I don't know how to post pictures but there are a couple online. he called it the hellboy. I believe it's a 3 inch octagon barrel. im considering having Jack build me one but was curious as to any info anyone had on it or if anyone here had shot it or knew the owner. Thanks!

He won't do it as far as I know.
That gun was built as one of a kind and the lock work was highly modifies to allow the frame to be narrowed.
Jack told me he assured the owner there would never be another built.
You can call him and ask but that's what he told me....

Princeout has a similar flame thrower. Mean little gun. I'm sure he'll be along shortly.

When I spoke with JRH recently he alluded to being willing to make a short barreled, no ejector 500L if I wanted one. I was not interested in a nonejector rod housing gun in something that size, however I really do like the looks of "hellboy"..........maybe it's the stag grips? Trapr

He will do the build but he will not scallop the frame or the loading gate he said that part was a one off. But in terms of birdshead grip 3 inch octagon barrel and conversion to .500 he said he would do it. I'm on the hunt for a old vaquero birdshead currently.

How about a video of someone firing Hellboy? Preferably all five shots. David Bradshaw

Man I can't imagine being able to keep that sucker in your hand with a high end load. I shot a close to max 440gr 500jrh load in coloradoyalers FA 500 a few days ago and you know it when you touch it off.

That thing conjures up the sound of little rat dogs going "Yipe... Yipe... Yipe...."

While I'll not volunteer to shoot it, it is both graceful and elegant. At least those words popped into my head when I scrolled down to see the pic. Really, a "form follows function" piece.

Not quite as short barreled, but Gallagher-built in 500 Linebaugh, It is a handful with full loads. I've shot it with some of Synd's 530 grain solids over a full case of H110 just to see what it was like. I shoot a 340 grain over H110 in a 45 large frame Vaquero with a Birdshead grip and while the 500 is heavier recoiling, I wouldn't say it was unmanageable. Wear gloves. Recent shoulder remodeling has limited my shooting to one handed, weak side so 500's are not on the menu for the foreseeable future. Tim
