Does anyone have experience with this rifle in this caliber?
Does it feed and extract smoothly? Does it handle a variety of bullet weights and velocities in cast and copper jacketed forms?
Any concerns about it?
Thanks!

I had one for a few years. I had read that it may have feeding issues with the SWC but mine fed everything I threw at it. SWC, LFN, WFN, jacketed, everything. Never a hiccup. Finding 2 loads (hunting and fun) that shot to the same POI was a chore, POI moved quite a bit with different loads.
I loved it but it was let go to get something else. My dad still curses me for selling it.

I have one in a cowboy limited version. The 255 gas checked cast Lyman never performed suitably for me. The MP molds 280gr front band is too long to chamber. The Hornady 300 xtp is very accurate and what I use now. Other cast designs may work perfectly, this is what I have at present.
if you work the action slowly, a jam will occur about 30% of the time. Mine has the dreaded marlin" letting two in" symptom. If you work the action fast, jams are usually avoided.
It is annoying, but I love the darn thing anyway. I would buy another one anytime!

I bought one of the newer ones, round barrel, had it for 4-5 months, love it. Laser cast 255 swc 9 grains of Power Pistol.

I have a LBT mold for a short nose (.335) 280 grain WFN-GC for use in my FA model 97 45 Colt. That same bullet works great in my Marlin 1894 16" carbine. I load it over 8 grains of Winchester 231 for an average velocity of 1055 fps. No feeding problems and accuracy is excellent.

I've had mine for over 20 years and would never let it go. It has never jammed after digesting thousands of rounds. I rarely ever used it in CAS and did see some jam when used in that sport. It handles any bullet weight and shape I have fed into it with no problems. 300 gr. jacketed bullets have proven to be good hunting loads for deer, and I am sure bigger stuff too if need be. I never load mine over Ruger levels (32,000 psi).

I have had an octagon Cowboy for something like 20 years. From my experience your gonna need a 454 cast bullet for it to shoot its best. As far as jacketed mine loves 250 and 300 grain XTP's loaded to Ruger only specs.
