I've never trapped before... but should take it up this summer ( gopher city on both sides of the drive way ) I'd like to shoot them, but just don't have the spare time when they are active... not worried about anything but getting rid of them... even had the farmer go up into the ditch with the ammonia they were putting on fields this spring, trying to gas them out... still getting fresh mounds daily BTW... that last Bob Cat is huge... think that's the biggest one I've ever seen...

shortbarrel, Who did made the wood stock for your rifle? Very cool. Andrew Andrew, that rifle was purchased in 1968,so it's a Costa Mesa,CA model.Armalite made a walnut stock for a couple years and I purchased that,in 1970 for $26.50.It was pretty clunky so I slimmed it way down and gave it a rosewood fore end tip and grip cap.I also glass bedded it as it is only held in by a barrel band.Being an early Armalite model,it has an aluminum barrel with steel sleeve. It will keep 10 shots in a quarter at 50 yds,so not match grade accuracy but super for one of these AR-7's. I had a friend back then who was an amazing gunsmith and he installed the little 4X Bushnell scope, using a TC Contender mount. It has a super thin crosshair.I believe that was put on in 1971.I also was have 5 of the early.Costa Mesa magazines which are supposed to be the most reliable.I keep them all full,at all times. Oh,and that sling,I made out of 1",tan,suspender elastic. The beauty of it is,I keep the slack pulled out of it,as in the picture but can still sling it on my shoulder or across my chest, without adjusting. It's pretty handy, and light. The gun, with wood stock, scope, mount and sling-loaded,only weighs 3 lb,11.6 oz.

It's like carrying a BB gun. That can make it tough to hold steady on very windy days so I brace it whenever I can.
Funny choice of words, I've got one of the rotary magazine fed Daisy 22lr rifles and like your AR7 it's light, has a sleeved barrel, and shoots amazingly well. It is my truck gun and is a lot of fun to shoot.
Found it in a LGS, for 40.00 with a working magazine.

Back then I had two Toy trucks, one after the other. That one of yours exactly ! Though I added TRD parts from California. Lift, headers, and intake and carb mods. Was banned from the car wash in Tionesta Penn..

I'm between Butte and Bozeman. That's interesting, bigbrowndog.I'll have to look that up. One day, running the line,I blundered on to a very fresh lion kill,a mule deer buck.My boss had a tag so we came back at daylight with a couple friends and their dogs and he took this big tom up in those cliffs in the backgound.Shot with a bow at about 30'.That's rough up there and steeper that steep. The cat got was in a tree on the very edge of a 100' cliff. The ledge we were on slanted toward the edge and was slippery. The cat got wedged 15' up the tree.Let me tell you,I'm not fond of heights but I climbed up to dislodge the cat.The lion was in a crotch above me and I couldn't get around or over him so I got right up under him and pulled his tail till I felt him start to move. Then I grabbed the tree with both arms,in a bear hug and hung on for dear life. The 162# cat hit my shoulder and slid down my body.Don't worry,I was NOT coming out of that tree.I was never so glad to get my feet back on the ground though, however slippery. There was a big explosion of powdered snow when the cat hit the edge of the rock ledge and he launched into space and didn't stop rolling for a quarter mile.It piled up against a small bush and when we finally got to it and pulled it loose for a look,it slipped out and rolled another quarter mile.He was headed toward the truck so it was all good. This was a Sunday morning and John, the shooter, was potentially in the doghouse as he and his wife were supposed to join a new church that day.We got back to the truck, loaded the cat and John actually "made it to the church on time",albeit with a big, dead lion on the back of his flatbead. John was shooting hunting videos and filmed it so it's in a video somewhere. With very brief instruction,I filmed when he shot. It's a day I'll never forget-or repeat.
