I like how low that Aimpoint sits with the slot milled in the slide. Interesting mount. Those shades seem like a great idea too, but don't they mess with ejection Axe? Neat setup.

The mount and shades have been proven on the range... Lots of top competitors use them..

Amazing that the optics survive the beating they must receive.
Surprised that the slide, barrel, ejection timing isn't altered.

We don't just slap this stuff on stock guns and shoot... I started shooting a slide mounted Burris scope on full up custom paper punchers in the mid 80s. The Burris scopes and Aimpoint and Ultradot red dots have proven themselves up to the task over a 30+ year period. Go to a bullseye match and check it out.. Our guns are mildly loaded paper punchers. In addition to durability, bullseye shooters require very precise repeatable adjustments. The Burris, Aimpoint, and Ultradot have what it takes. We have a new batch of red dots coming out on the plastic fantastics shooting service loads..

my shooting has hit a point where I haven't ruled out looking for a radar guidance system so a dot isn't even a question. I used one on my Glock 24 and it was a huge help.

I saw the title to this thread, and thought I remembered Bill Wilson competing in the 1980's when I first heard of optic mounted handguns. Their success in competition lead me to a 2X Leupold on a blued Redhawk .44 for hunting.
Optics, and some handgun designs, have changed since then. My eyes have changed too.
