In a current gun magazine, October 2009, John Taffin writes about carrying the .22 Magnum "Earl" revolver concealed in the front shirt pocket of a Cabelas long sleeve shirt equiped with 6 pockets; 2 zippered breast pockets which also have a piggybacked buttoned pocket.
He states that one can carry the 8 ounce, 4" barreled "Earl" diagonally in the front breast pocket without the revolver printing.
If John Taffin reads this, would he be so kind as to specify which particular shirt he ordered? Item number would be greatly appreciated.
I called Cabela's and they did not know which item number shirt - (there are many), that I was referring to.
Sincerely,
Robert / voyager1492

HAVEN'T A CLUE AS TO ITEM NUMBER! I ALWAYS BUY MY SHIRTS FROM CABELA'S AND BASICALLY GO WITH LONG SLEEVES AND DOUBLE POCKETS. SOMETIMES I WIND UP WITH STANDARD POCKETS AND OTHER TIMES THE DOUBLE POCKETS DESCRIBED.

Seems to me Cabela's ought to offer a "John Taffin" edition shirt, makes sense to me.

Thanks for responding John - is this link to a Cabela's shirt with rear breast zippered & buttoned pocket in front of it and an additional pocket on one arm what you were referring to in your "Earl" article? www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?cm_sz=Tall&type=product&id=0018775902467aThanks for your assistance! Robert / voyager1492 PS - Have enjoyed reading your reviews over the years and thought it would be great to standardize on .45LC so purchased from John Linebaugh one of his Bisley Vaqueros. Then thought it would be even better to be able to shoot other .452 bullets such as .45ACP and 460 Rowland ( your article inspired this) Remembering how you were enthusiastic about the S&W Mountain Gun in .45LC - here's what I came up with: A novel way to shoot .45LC, 460 Rowland, .45ACP, as well as.22LR for economical close range practice. I have a S&W Performance Center 629-5 that was shortened to 2 5/8" for concealed carry and caliber converted from .44 magnum to .45LC by Hamilton Bowen. Next, cylinder was sent to TK Custom www.moonclips.com - Cylinder was machined to use moonclips and then purchased .45LC inserts that shoot .22LR. Here's a link to the inserts: www.moonclips.com/cart/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=188&cat=45+LC+%2F+%2E22+LR+InsertsThe inserts were made to fit in the moonclips so that one can shoot the .45LC S&W 629 mountain gun with .22LR inserts and when the moonclip is ejected, just by tilting the moonclip downward, all spent .22LR cartridges drop out for rapid reloading. Thought you might enjoy hearing how we can have a multi-caliber .45LC mountain gun. ----------------------------------

Those 22LR inserts grabbed my attention. I made a similar insert for a shotgun in machine shop about 50 years ago. It was pretty fun but not accurate at all (possibly because it had no rifling).
Even if these are not accurate they would be pretty handy with shot loads. But, if they are really accurate, they would be VERY handy. So, ...how accurate are they???

Shakey,
I was able to keep shots with the .45LC to .22LR inserts firing .22LR out of both my Ruger Bisley Vaquero & S&W 629 within the 8" diameter ring VisiShot target at 10 yards (30 ft). The inserts have at least a 1" polygonal rifling bore that gives pretty good up close acurracy.

Shakey,
Measuring hits on the target from center bullseye - they measured betwee 3-4" from center at 30 feet.

Thanks Voyager. That's better than I was expecting. May have to get a set to play with.
