Hello I just thought i would share todays hunting whit you all. I was out looking for some black grouse or if lucky some capercaillie and i had gone my usually trip and did not see anything. So just for fun i decided to follow an old logging road just to see were it goes. After some walking the trees began to thin out before a clearing. As i stand there thinking what a perfect place for some birds to be, i see a capercaillie sitting in a spruce topp 190m away, i find a good shooting spot and take a new measurement of the distance,183m. I load the rifle and fire, as the bird falls from the tree it scares up another capercaillie who flies towards me and ands up in a pine top 114m from me so all i had to do was to angle myself a little so i could get of another shoot. This does not happens very often to say the least! I got two beautiful birds that will make fabulous eating. Happy hunting from a very happy hunter Math For comparison here is a picture of a black grouse from earlier this season

Nice hunt mathias. I too was wondering where you were located. Nice looking Sako also. I've owned several and they all have been fine rifles.

That is a nice rifle Mathias. What type of bullets do you use for bird hunting? Also was wondering what type of suppressor you are using.

More like BIG bird hunting.
Those grouse are very impressive to say the least. Funny how so much of Europe, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand have such restrictive gun laws and yet suppressors are very popular, even encouraged to keep the gun blast to a minimum. But here the peasants just think it will lead to more crime...

Very nice, Mathias,.... capercaillie are one of the animals on my wish list. I have fond memories of seeing them mounted in gun clubs throughout Europe as well as in the forests of Scandinavia.
Someday soon I hope,......Trapr

I do need to mention that here, south of rt 90, and under say 7000ft, it is bad manners to say the least to whack game birds that away ! Though we are talking pheasants, grouse and quail for the most part. As you go north or up, species of grouse, and the ruffed grouse themselves, change. It becomes less of a bird dog and flush to shoot game.
