That is something else. It either has a lot of miles on it or was not taken very good care of by the pitting all over it. The hammer is also rather unique.

Wow...If that old Ruger could talk, it would have a sad, sad story to tell!

The hammer is also rather unique. I keep looking at that. Someone's fast draw or trick shooter?

Actually,,, I think that rib is a stick-on, aftermarket item that slides around the front sight. It's been a few years since I saw one on a gun,,, and we removed that one. Easily removed,,, and cleaned up. That poor 44 has had a rough life.

I thought it was a stick on at first but after looking at it, I don't think it is, I believe that rib and dovetailed front sight were gunsmith added, it's the same faded look as the whole gun and the stick on one's were black plastic with different vents.

This one may have been put together prior to the availability of a Super BH so some one fashioned this hammer that ended-up kind of a Super/Bisley mash-up.
The rib detail also continues across the top strap of the frame all the way to the rear sight. Hard to tell any detail by the pics of how it was done.

It looks like a "fanner" gun set up for trick shooting; the ribbed barrel for blasting aerial targets. The bid at $300+ is about $200+ more than I'd bid.
I wonder if the bore looks as bad as the pitting on the surface of the revolver.

After seeing a couple posts about the King Gun Sight Co, I wondered if that Blackhawk might have been worked on by them. The work on the hammer makes me think not but that is one uneducated guess. Looks pretty neat.
