took a few pictures of my favorite or go to hunting lever gun. this is a custom browning made to look like a late 1800s winchester like you see in Madis' winchester book: has half octagon half round barrel, caliber 45/70, nice wood. original vintage but unused marbles tang sight ; winchester steel checkered butt plate, rear sight is vintage folding lyman leaf and the front sight is special, a marbles reversible front with brass bead and ivory bead for different lighting conditions. [ poor pictures of the sight] this rifle is extremely strong and quite accurate. will handle loads stronger than most would like to fire at the bench. it is comforting to have on hunts where the big critters roam: here is the rifle for perspective in the photo taken on a hunt on the Tagagarik River, north of the arctic circle. just above the rifle is a track that is huge, a big mama grizzly and behind the rifle buttstock, the cubs footprints which are quite large in themselves.. knowing i was loaded with 400 gr bullets at just over 2000 fps made me a bit more relaxed than i would have been

Beautiful rifle, I have never seen that quality checkering on an original Winchester. Superb to say the least. Thanks for the pics.

thank you, my best buddy and I both got the browning 1886 repros, and sent them off to Rays Gunsmithing in Colorado springs and told him how we wanted them done.....he did great lever gun work.....we got them back about 15 months later - it was worth the wait.

can I ask where the front sight came from??? its an original marbles front sight. they made them with different sizes and color beads snd different heights too someone said they were reproduced once....... they turn up on ebay fairly often..... i try to grab them when they are 40$ or less... but really mint ones cost s little more usually it is amazing the sights they made before optical sights came along

My one lever gun. A Browning BL-22 engraved receiver and fairly decent wood.
