Here is my Clements built 475 Linebaugh. 20" barrel, 35" overall. From 10 grains of trailboss to cases full of 110, it's a very versatile gun. I have a 3x Leupold coming to go on it. How's the recoil with a case full of H110?

It's vigorous to say the least but the recoil curve is very sharp and it's over very quick. You better have a good hold on the forearm or it will jump out of your hand. It's a very light gun. I much prefer the shove of low pressure loads.

I much prefer the shove of low pressure loads. The idea of something like this is very appealing to me. A nice single shot in 480/475, or even 500 JRH/500L. I'm afraid I'd need to keep my loads in the lower pressure range or I'd throw something out, like my neck or upper back. The older I get the less I am able to stand the recoil. But hey, what couldn't you hunt with a 400+ grain slug at 1100 fps?

Offhand recoil may not be bad. From the bench for sight in was a whole new breed of cat. But hey, what couldn't you hunt with a 400+ grain slug at 1100 fps? A Mastodon...

I have thought a lot about an MGM barrel. Just not certain what to order. I've thought 18-20" would be about ideal but I may go shorter. i have two MGM barrel(20 vartarg and 6.5 creedmoor) that are 16 1/4" long. i got them both because i wanted to try them as a pistol but i want them as a rifle too. the pistol phase worn out and now i have them both as a rifle. 20 vartarg they both are sub 1/2moa at 100 yards but they have some drawbacks. muzzle blast is probably number 1, while the noise level is number 2. i figured out that the muzzle blast should be away from your eyes, i figure(i say that alot, don't i ) that a barrel should be 21-22" long. i use my encore in a 444 marlin with a 23" MGM barrel that saves me from muzzle blast. the noise level, well you have to live with it, just make sure you use ear plugs. i will replace both of my 16 1/4" barrels, but thats another project. Let me know if you're looking to sell the Creed bbl, sir. That would be a dandy truck & treestand rifle threaded & supressed and be just as handy as my son's 16-in. .300 Blackout is w Harvester on. But more smack & ranging ability.

Here's some help maybe? If your smith can put on a 4" brake. www.edstc.com/12ssenc.htmlMight want to keep checking in with him. He gets various barrels in from time to time.

That No. 1 in .475 would fulfill any .475/.480 carbine daydreams I might be having.

Regan has my number 3. He is putting a 475 Linebaugh max barrel quarter rib with rear sight, banded front swivel and necg banded front sight. He's had it for 18 months so it's bound to be getting close to my turn by now.
